How to Apply for Credit Courses

Online undergraduate credit courses offered by the Division of Continuing and International Education are open to anyone qualified to do college-level work. Proficiency in English is required for all courses and students must meet any course prerequisites. Please note that enrollment in or satisfactory completion of a course or program does not imply admission to the University of Miami.

To enroll in undergraduate online credit courses as a non-degree seeking student, you must complete the online non-degree application and pay the nonrefundable $50 application fee.

You meet the application requirements if you have earned a high school diploma or have a GED (minimum score 280, no less than 50 in each sub score); and you:

  • Are not currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program outside the Division of Continuing and International Educational at the University of Miami;
  • Have not been rejected by the University of Miami in the last year;
  • Do not have a degree-seeking application pending at the University of Miami;
  • Have not previously enrolled as a degree-seeking student at the University of Miami without completing a degree either at the University of Miami or elsewhere.
High School Students

If you are a qualified high school junior or senior interested in enrolling in an online course, you must complete the online non-degree application, pay the nonrefundable $50 application fee and provide appropriate documentation.

Appropriate documentation is defined as:

  • written permission from parent/guardian;
  • recommendation of Guidance Counselor confirming a GPA of 3.5;
  • a high school transcript (may be unofficial);
  • copy of standardized test scores (if available).
All Students whose Native Language is Not English

If English is not your native language you must provide a TOEFL score demonstrating proficiency, complete the online application and pay the nonrefundable application fee of $50USD.

IELTS is the International English Language Testing System. It measures ability to communicate in English across all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – for people who intend to study or work where English is the language of communication.

How to Apply and Register for Graduate Certificate Programs

Online graduate certificate programs offered by the Division of Continuing and International Education are open to anyone qualified to do graduate college-level work. Potential students must complete the online graduate non-degree application, pay the nonrefundable $50 application fee, and meet the following requirements:

  • Earned undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university;
  • Not been rejected from a graduate program at the University of Miami;
  • Must meet any program prerequisites as outlined in the program description
  • TOEFL documentation meeting minimum TOEFL score:
    (If English is not your native language and you have not earned a bachelor's degree from an English Speaking University)
